News had come in of one of our Type I Vospers burning off the enemy coast. We were able to cobble together a rescue squadron of 3 MTBs. As the crew was being hauled out of their rafts 2 E-boats showed up. One of our MTBs laid down a smoke screen, obscuring the rescue craft as well as an attack by one of our MTBs. Severe damage was caused to the lead E-boat and we were able to make our get-away with minimal damage. God Save the King!

Several German Ju-52s attempt to supply a beleaguered Axis formation at the front lines. But they are ambushed by Ameican air assets. The German fighters flying cover arrive too late to stop the attack and all the supply planes are lost.

Elements of the 101st SS Heavy Panzer Division engage American tanks near a crossroads near Bastogne. A single Tiger I was responsible for destroying nearly half the American tanks involved. But in the end, the overwhelming number of Allied tanks broke the German forces and secured the crossroads.

Advancing American infantry accompanied by a single Sherman ran into a small contingent of SS troops backed by a Panzer IV. The Sherman took out one of the Hanomags early and the Germans were quickly on their heels. The SS regrouped and put up some resistance, but the US Army overwhelmed the remaining Germans and captured the objectives.

Valiant solders of the American army were assigned the mission to recover a damaged Sherman. While completing this mission, they were attacked by German forces. Luckily the American troops held off the Germans in a short firefight while the ARV was able to recover the tank and retreat off the field.

The city of Caen was a very complicated theater of operation. The 1st Division had to fight a most complicated battle against a German division determined not to leave an inch of ground.
Thanks to the support of the British artillery batteries and the remarkable mobility of the various elements of the “Big Red One”, the tenacity of the axis eventually dulls after several days of fighting. The suburbs of Caen were in ruins, but these ruins belonged to the Allies

Tow Trouble!
The US quickly mobilized a recovery element to repatriate a disabled Sherman. German forces closed in but the M32 recovery vehicle was successful in hooking up and drove away with the sherman in tow. The German forces were able to kill one US squad as the recovery vehicle slipped away.

More shirking, less berserking tonight. I can see why the Germans lost the war. This many rolls of 1’s are only good in a game of yahtzee.
