An attempt to force a bridge crossing was stymied by a lone Panther supported by Fallschirmjaeger. The Panther held on long enough (regardless of a tardy artillery barrage) to allow local German units to escape. A Firefly finally destroyed the Panzer V. The charges set to destroy the crossing failed to ignite, leaving a crossing for following Allied forces.
