Spitfires and BF-109s squared off over the English Channel. Although the British put hundreds of rounds into the inexperienced German pilots, both sides pulled away with only a single casualty, an overconfident British pilot who found himself fixed between three Germans. Neither side claimed a victory, and both limped home to nurse their wounds.
